Lawrie was awarded his BA degree from Drake University in Economics. He owned and operated Kaplan Insurance Agency in Chicago before relocating to the Washington, DC area.

He was the International Director of the B’nai B’rith Members Insurance Program for twenty-five years. This is a Voluntary Life and Health Insurance Program that is available for the membership of B’nai B’rith.

Since the formation of Kaplan Financial Group, Lawrie has been a Consultant for Operations and Strategic Planning.
